Ok. So we've got about three weeks before we leave for this thing and I'm seriously getting anxious! This is my first week out of work so I really have more time to get prepared, but also more time to kill...I'm the sort of person that needs to stay busy! I have my mind set on something and I want it to happen. NOW. Ok...I'm a little tense...I'm counting the minutes...how soon will you come, oh long-awaited trip of my life? How soon will we be snoozing under the stars by night and riding endless pavement by day? When will my life begin?? (Hey I never said I couldn't be a tad dramatic...)
Anyway, I've come up with at least one productive thing to keep me busy and add some more weight to the saddlebag; I'm making jewelry. A hobby that laid dormant for a while until recently, I have found I am actually kind of good at it, so I plan to make as many bracelets, necklaces and earrings as possible. In the event that we run out of money before we get home (pretty likely) this will be my traveling shop. Stone, glass, wood and clay beads from around the world will make my selection worth stopping on the street for. At least I'm hoping. And, hey, I've got something to keep my hands busy for the next few weeks. I even have a few song ideas for the traveling jewelry shop: Stop, you'll look so good; This one was made for you; and, You know you want it, you know you need it (Mim singing background vocals: help us get hooooome...)!
Seriously though, there's only a few little things left to do in preparation...only a few little things to purchase. Do some maintenance on our bikes. Figure out the luggage situation (oooo, that's going to be fun!!). Our first scheduled stop is a place called Joyful Journey, a hot springs just south of Salida and only the first out of many hot springs to visit. What a wonderful place to begin! Can we go now??
